Coach Joe has been instrumental in developing a curriculum for Shooting Stars Lacrosse that incorporate his decades of playing and coaching experience along with his Physical Education degree from Adelphi University.
Joe was selected as Captain of the 1979 Adelphi University National Championship Team and was named 1st Team All American Division II. Joe was then selected as a defensive player to the USA World Lacrosse Team in 1981. He won his first World Championship at the 1982 World Games held at John’s Hopkins University by defeating England, Canada and Australia. Joe went on to receive his second World Championship in the 1984 Jim Thorpe Pow Wow & Games held at the Los Angeles Olympics by defeating Canada.
Joe has coached lacrosse in various levels ranging from youth programs all the way up to men’s club teams over the last 30+ years. He participated in the Long Island Lacrosse Club seven years and captured four Club Lacrosse Championships. Joe has coached varsity lacrosse at Bethpage, West Hempstead, Holy Family and Plainedge High School’s.
One of Joe’s highest honors was his induction into the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1997. He also has been selected by Brine for some of their advertising. Joe continues to remain very engaged in the lacrosse communities throughout Long Island. He is currently a youth coach for the Plainedge Lacrosse Club and an active Nassau County Lacrosse Official. Joe is a Director for the Metropolitan Lacrosse Association.
